Kew Gardens

The last leaves of Autumn in London

Enjoy the last leaves of Autumn, before we get the skeletons of Winter.  Time to wrap up warm for winter.  And look for the buds of crocuses coming through!

Foggy Roundwood Park

A wonderful foggy November morning in Roundwood Park, feeling like Sherlock Holmes out in the London Smog solving one of life's great mysteries.  Not many people out, only the hardened dog owners and prospective Premier League football players.   The fog is super atmospheric and gives nature an eerie and close feeling.

Autumn in Kenwood / Hampstead Heath

It's that time again to change the summer wardrobe to winter clothes, to get the wellies out and watch the leaves fall.  Nothing more magnificent than a potter in mild temperatures, a deep blue sky and wine coloured leaves falling like snow.  A walk on the wilder side of London leaves one feeling that maybe the winter is survivable!

Princess of Wales Conservatory, Kew Gardens

A lovely time exploring the conservatory, sniffing out the Titan Arum, searching for the remaining butterflies (two) and watching the steam come down onto the lily pads of the Victoria Amazonica (giant waterlily).

Regent's Park

It doesn't really look like Regent's Park but this is taken from the bridge between the mosque and the playing fields, near the boating lake.  It's has a slightly Japanesy feel to it, but the plastic bottle floating in the water (which I have airbrushed out) places it in England.

Autumn

It's definitely autumn and I'm itching to go to Kew Gardens to see all those magnificent trees turning their russets, golds and bronzes.  In the mean time all those crispy, crunchy leaves underfoot and the creeping walls will have to be enjoyed.

The Fabulous Kew Gardens

What can one say about Kew that would do it justice.  They have now opened the lovely butterfly section at the end of the Cactus House.

Fantastic areas of meadow land and woods, where one can feel in the wilderness and there is no-one else around.

I wish it were my back garden!

Leaves and Stamen

What could I possibly add to the most wonderful, tranquil gardens in London: Kew.  A haven for the Parakeets, the old and the very young.  Super for taking close-ups, but really would recommend a tripod to eliminate the shake of the camera.
